Although it sits beside several non-descript buildings just off of I-25 and Garden of the Gods, the Caspian Café is anything but ordinary. Walking into the Caspian Café, you are immediately immersed in the cozily lit, tastefully decorated, Mediterranean-themed restaurant.
Like the decorations, the food is a mixture of all things Mediterranean, with numerous ethnic dishes representing several cultures. They’ve got Arabic kebab, Greek gyros, and seafood dishes that could be found in any number of other countries with a foot in the Mediterranean.
The service and attitude of the staff far outstrip the price of the food. A full lunch for one averages about $10. before gratuity, but the shirt and tie servers are knowledgeable and polite. This gives the restaurant the air of sophistication that one might expect at an establishment far more costly. The tables are set with folded cloth napkins and quality flatware and ice-water comes in a wineglass.
Lunchtime crowds are moderate, and the service is excellent and prompt. The food comes as quickly as can be expected at a restaurant of this sort, as each dish is different, and food is prepared fresh. The atmosphere is pleasant, with classical music playing softly in the background.
The lunch and dinner menus are much the same, although the prices are different, because dinner meals come with bread and your choice of a soup or salad. Soups and salads aside, the menu does include several vegetarian variations of regular dishes, as well as regular meat-free meals. Daily specials are offered although a kids’ menu is not. The Caspian Café also has a separate wine menu and a full service bar.
The single level Caspian Café has sufficient parking as well as easy handicapped access. There is a smoking patio outside, and they accept cash, checks, and charge. The café is open from 11a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and they are available for banquets and special events on Sunday. They are located at 4375 Sinton Road. in Colorado Springs. You can call them at (719) 528-1155.
The Caspian Café offers excellent fair and great service at a very reasonable price, and gives diners a unique choice of tastes not offered by many other restaurants in Southern Colorado. I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in ethnic cuisine.
