People of differing points of view often have good ideas and bad ideas, but unless they learn to talk with each other, they may never know the difference.
High school bullying is increasing in public schools. The high student to teach ratio and lack of parental guidance are the sources of this. Many tragedies are making United States citizens more aware and teenagers much more cautious. Unfortunately, teens are seeing and witnessing more bullying everyday. High school attendance is decreasing, but trying to improve our weaknesses may solve this...More
I’ve been attending PPCC since January 2006. I have been out of school for fifteen years. To my complete and utter surprise, I can’t believe how many students forget to show up for class! HA! HA! HEE! HEE! Some students choose to show up just to chitchat about the party the night before with their classmates, not caring that the instructor is in the front of the classroom trying to teach class. BEEP! BEEP! Other students are playing games or text messaging using their cell phones. TAP! TAP! One, two, three students are busy typing on the keyboard of the computer, emailing or surfing the web. SH! SH! Then, there are the very few who are actually there to learn and receive an education. For the students who are talking, surfing, playing games and disrespecting the instructor and the students who are here to get an education, need to leave!...More
There is no medical reason to perform a tail docking at three days of age.
Most veterinarians would say that the appropriate time to tail dock puppies is three days of age. However, what they don’t tell you is that even at this young age it is extremely painful. Doing it at this age would save time and money because there is no anesthesia involved. But is it worth the amount of pain the puppies go through? Many people have been misled by breeders and veterinarians about tail docking. Tail docking is cruel, extremely painful, and inhumane...More
Smoking should be banned in restaurants through-out the state, even though there are many smokers. Smoking is a habit common around the state of Colorado as well as the nation. Why should a drug that can harm and potentially kill be allowed and forced upon everyone who should enter a restaurant? Non-smokers should not have to deal with the smell of cigarettes while eating their dinner. A smoking ban in restaurants would result in many positive changes such as fewer smokers in restaurants, a more pleasant eating environment, and less second-hand smoke exposures...More
Smoking is a waste of time. It pollutes the air, destroys the lungs, and is a huge financial expense to our healthcare system. Some of these claims are supported by actual data, while others are the opinions of the individuals supporting a statewide smoking ban. According to The Colorado Department of Health and Environment, tobacco is the leading cause of death in Colorado. Causing more deaths than Alcohol and drug abuse, AIDS, homicide, suicide, car accidents and fires combined...More
There are at least twelve procedures that are performed at different times through out the gestation period. Only 8 will be mentioned here and only four will be explained. The eight are: Suction Aspiration (during the first 12 weeks), menstrual extraction (first 10 weeks), D&C (first 13 weeks), D&E (up to 18 weeks), Saline Abortion or salt poisoning (used after 16 weeks), Hysterotomy, (used in the third trimester), the abortion pill (RU-486) ((the morning after pill)), Partial Birth Abortion (the fetus is 26 weeks or older) these are the eight most common methods used and all of them can be potentially hazardous to the mother and are fatal to the unborn child...More
Is the death of the most wanted man in Iraq going to help our troops and the Iraqi people or make things worse? I believe it will be more positive than negative. His own men from inside al-Qaeda gave him up. This man was responsible for beheading of Americans, Sunni’s to have a civil war with the Shiite’s, and coordinating attacks on coalition forces...More
Several years ago I had an appointment for a routine Pap smear. After I was undressed, covered by a sheet and spread eagle in stirrups the doctor said she couldn’t reach my vagina. “That’s funny” I thought. “I can feel your breath high up on my thigh and you’ve already done some poking around down there.” She handed me a thin cardboard box of tissues and told me to slide it under my butt for leverage. When I questioned her she said if I were higher up she would be able to get where she needed to be. After I crushed the box, she said she couldn’t get a sample. Wow! Before I left, I asked her if she was going to get a good laugh out of it when she discussed me with her colleagues. She kind of smirked and said,” I never discuss patients with other doctors.” Yeah, right lady! Thanks for the humiliation...More
Have you looked at a globe lately? Perhaps as Americans our sense of global awareness has lessened greatly. In fact when administered a test of various countries locations, more Europeans knew where the United States of America is located than Americans. However, if the average American was asked about Brad Pitt’s relationship history, most Americans would know the entire story...More
The other day, I heard on Fox News that road rage could be considered a mental health disorder. I then saw an article in the local paper. The headline read “Study: 5% of Americans Prone to Explosive Rage” (June 6, 2006)...More
The author of the recent article ‘Death Takes Living to Happen’ brought up an interesting point: the author clearly believes that society is stifling, that it attempts to force people into neat little categories and casts aside those who resist. I disagree...More
After reading “Death Takes Reading to Happen” by Tracy Ransom, I was baffled. In modern America it is understood that clothing is a representation of personality. People dress how they want to be perceived, or else we would all conform to uniform...More

Health, smealth. Or at least that’s what I used to think, until recently. I’ve been bugging everybody around me with my complaints of my burning brain. Seriously, my head feels like I snorted a whole roll of Smarties. (The only reason I know what snorting Smarties is like is because we use to do it in grade school to make our snot turn colors - stupid, bored grade school kids…never mind.) Soon the burning spread to my neck and shoulders next came extreme fatigue and hot flashes…there’s more but there’s no need to share all of the gory details. So, I took a little trip to Student Health and they asked me to try a migraine medication. No luck. I made another stop by Student Health. This time, tests were ordered. They all came back normal...More
