PPCC student Benjamin Snow was one of five winners for this year’s FYI National Film Contest, sponsored by MSNBC. Judges included Walter Cronkite, the Dalai Lama and George Clooney.
More than 88,000 people across the nation responded to vote in this year’s film contest in which 18- to 26-year-old students could submit a 30- to 60-second film about an issue of personal importance.
That 88,000-plus response breaks the previous record when MSNBC polled for best ads broadcast during the Super Bowl, considered the annual television event that draws the most viewers.
PPCC student Benjamin Snow was one of more than 300 entrants. The title of his film is “Thumbs Down on Pity”, decrying the media stereotype of the disabled. Other winners include “Innocence Lost” about child abuse; “Orphans in Africa,” about poverty in Africa; and “Strike It Up, which concerns isolation in our technology bubbles.
