Holland and Denmark were not the first to use windmills.
About 1,300 years ago windmills were used in what is now Iran for pumping water and sending it to where it was needed. However, Denmark was first to use windmills to produce electricity—that is, when there was some wind. Batteries, with extended storage capacity, might make these old windmills a source of power.
