Gazette Charities – the philanthropic program of The Gazette which supports over 200 nonprofit organizations each year in greater Colorado Springs – is pleased to announce its first scholarship program in partnership with the Pikes Peak Community College Foundation.
The program will award $2500 scholarships to two second-year PPCC students enrolled in a print media-related degree program for the 2007/2008 Academic Year. Relevant fields of study include: business, marketing, journalism and communications. Scholarships will provide support for tuition, books and fees.
Additionally, applicants should demonstrate an interest in pursuing a print-media related career in the greater Colorado Springs community. The Gazette and Gazette Charities also wish to offer the scholarship recipients mentoring and internship opportunities at The Gazette.
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled at PPCC
- Must have completed at least 24 credits at PPCC in 100 level and above courses by the time scholarship is awarded
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Must be enrolled in a degree program in a field related to print media, including: business, marketing, journalism, or communications.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to the Colorado Springs community
- Financial need and/or unique life circumstances will be considered but are not required
Application Process
- Completed Application form
- Copy of most recent PPCC transcript
- High quality, typed essay no more than 2 pages double-spaced describing 1) how student will use his/her education to pursue a career related to the print media business 2) how student has demonstrated a commitment to the Colorado Springs community 3) financial need/unique circumstances, if applicable.
- Copy of current FAFSA
Application Deadline
- All application materials must be received by May 18, 2007. Scholarship recipients will be notified of their award by June 20, 2007. Application materials must be submitted to:
